Logan Walters grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, and attended Wayne State College, where he played baseball and earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. His passion for the outdoors and fisheries led him to his current position as the Creel Coordinator at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he conducts angler surveys to gather valuable data on the state’s fisheries.
Alongside his work with creel surveys, Logan has volunteered with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission, gaining hands-on experience in the use of trap nets, gill nets, and electrofishing for multiple species. He also performs data analysis using R, helping to inform fisheries management and conservation efforts.
Beginning in the summer of 2025, Logan will pursue a master’s degree in applied ecology with a focus on fisheries. His goal is to advance the understanding, management, and conservation of Nebraska’s fisheries while also enhancing angler satisfaction and engagement. He believes that fostering a strong relationship between anglers and fisheries management is vital for sustaining and improving the state’s aquatic resources.
Outside of work, Logan is an avid bass angler and enjoys hunting waterfowl, upland game, and big game. He also loves hiking and spending time with his family.
